090209 – Picture of the day
Editor’s Comment: Connect. Adeline’s picture stands out for her news value. A public figure in it. An occasion which is recent. Their glasses come together as have the people in this event. A comprehensive sense of time and place. A Minister at a grassroots activity – reaching out to the folks. An apt choice for a standalone that depicts a news event.
If not for the appearance of our Minister for Foreign Affairs, Rachel’s would be the pick instead. Her composition and subjects’ similar pose and action gave it an aesthetical edge. Both even go barefoot to speak on the phone. The two ‘connect’ in a figurative sense through their likeness. Close call.
Alex’s might be in contention if a Minister was present. The poster of them was a good effort to include newsworthy subjects.
