090309 – Picture of the day
Editor’s comments: Kevin’s photo had the greatest visual impact in terms of scale and colour. However, his caption could not match up to the magnitude of his photo, and this was disappointing for me. It seemed as though a natural disaster had occurred on first glance, when the surroundings were in fact that of a construction site.
Rachel’s photo worked for me because it was well executed in terms of composition and timing. While it was a fairly straightforward shot of a smoker, I could see it being published in a feature article about youth delinquency or smoking.
