270109 – Picture of the day
Editor’s Notes: Sometimes, a simple interpretation of the theme does not mean a lesser picture. Kevin’s frame shows not only the house-in-mention, but also the interaction between it and its tenants. The intimate connection is captured in a decisive click which freezes the right expressions. As if not enough, he includes the rustic-looking letterbox, giving the house-in-mention its character.
I also want to bring up my praise for Alex in the choice of framing. Without the outside-looking-in perspective, the picture would not have worked as well. The perspective made the temple less a public place but more a private place (for the Buddha). Adeline’s idea works great, but the execution is not impressive for me. I think Rachel’s picture is very deliberately-made (in the good sense), in that she must have waited for the old man to walk past before clicking. But, like my comments to Wei Yang on 230109, I see an idea, but not a picture. It did not come out strong enough as a visual.
