This is indeed one issue that has been privately discussed, and something useful for future editors to consider. When the obvious answer is always to balance the criteria, it becomes tricky when photos that weigh too much on one particular criteria are submitted alongside those heavier on another. [Feel free to add on]

When is a framing too tight?

More often than not, comments such as “could have been tighter” are posted. So does a tight framing tell the story better or does the inclusion of more environment add to the telling? How much should you allow the reader to jump to his/her own conclusions? How much less should you show in order to stop short of being too literal in a picture?
